Armed and unarmed Security Guards

Intelligence Protection Services armed security guards are highly trained individuals who perform a critical role. Many are former military/law enforcement officers who have completed the necessary training and registration to carry a firearm in the course of their security duties.

 

Training security guards undergo

Private security guards, whether armed or unarmed, receive extensive training. While this will, of course, include varying degrees of combat training, the ability to recognize and diffuse any potentially volatile situation is the hallmark of the best unarmed and armed security guards. Such proficiency is critical in preventing an incident from escalating.

 

Additional training includes risk assessment, which is especially important in the field of armed executive or close protection. The armed close protection agent must be able to analyze real, potential, and possible risks and devise multiple action plans for any eventuality.

 

Armed Security Guard

The duties of an armed security guard will vary depending on the role in which they are employed. For example, those who work in a school setting will have a very different daily routine than those who work as an armed executive protection officer. The underlying responsibilities and obligations, however, remain the same.

 
Armed Security Guard  responsibilities and obligations include;
  • The safeguarding of property and/or persons

  • To prevent criminal acts such as theft, vandalism, hostility, violence, and attacks from occurring.

  • Recognize and diffuse potentially criminal or violent situations

  • Use lethal force if the situation calls for it (this should be the very last resort)

 

Armed and unarmed security guard skills;

 

  • Situational awareness

  • Ability to recognize body language and behavior that may raise a concern

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Perfect posture for confidentiality obligations

Unarmed Security Guard

Guards who do not carry guns or other weapons are called unarmed guards. You are physically present in the property or business. They patrol each location, monitor security systems, and respond to threats very quickly and efficiently. The lack of physical weapons doesn't make these security guards less valuable. Their mere presence is enough to deter criminals and intruders.

 

The unarmed security force's duties include surveillance, patrol, access control, policy enforcement, crowd control, search, and general crime deterrence.
